Leslie J. Daniels, Esq.
Ms. Daniels is a Certified Specialist in Taxation Law by the State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization. Ms. Daniels earned a B.S. degree in Business Administration (Finance) from San Jose State University, and a Juris Doctor degree from Santa Clara University School of Law. Admitted to the State Bar of California in 1990, Ms. Daniels has been enrolled to practice before the Internal Revenue Service since 1984.
Prior to joining Groom & Cave, LLP in January, 2000, Ms. Daniels was a senior tax attorney with The Fiore Law Group, LLP where her practice was generally split between family wealth planning for high net worth individuals and closely-held family business owners and representing clients in all levels of estate, gift and income tax controversies and litigation. Ms. Daniels also spent several years in the Tax Department of KPMG, LLP, an international accounting firm where her practice emphasized income tax planning and compliance for individuals, partnerships, closely-held corporations, trusts and estates.
Ms. Daniels’ current practice emphasis is advising high net worth individuals and business owners in income, estate and gift tax planning including use of business entities and charitable giving techniques to achieve client philanthropic, asset management and protection goals. Ms. Daniels also advises public and private charitable organizations with regard to tax, organizational and governance matters.
Ms. Daniels is the immediate past Chair of the Taxation Law Advisory Commission to the California Board of Legal Specialization. She is also a past Member of the Executive Committee of the Taxation Section of the State Bar of California and has served on various Committees of the Taxation Section of the State Bar of California, including serving as Bar Business Editor of California Tax Lawyer magazine. Ms. Daniels is a frequent lecturer on sophisticated estate, gift and philanthropic planning techniques.
